I've been holding out on this post for a while, but I'm really starting to see the MASSIVE potential for the Aztecs, French, and British on a treaty game. I'm willing to bet that each player could have close to 100,000 resources by the end of the NR, with more resources coming in than they know what to do with. The strat involves cows and fur trade, but it gets even better than that.
Aztec Role (Ben): The Aztec player becomes the primary farm source of the team. After mazing out their pop in 14 minutes , they then focus 100% on farming. Since they have 4 farm upgrades and 5 farm cards, it becomes almost unbeatable with 80 or so vills on farms and the others getting the bare necessities. Moreover, their imperial farm upgrade (equivalent to the capital) gives 50% on farms, huntables, AND livestock fattening. I shit you not, look for yourself. Combined with the Brit team fattening card, they can fatten animals 100% faster using the farms that they've already built. They then tribute so much fucking food to the French that they are almost gathering food faster than they can send it. Moreover, they no longer need plantations and wood gathering capacities which saves mirco, space, and $$$. When the NR ends, they have 10 warrior priests, 15 vills on fire pit and whatever other vills they need on their super farms that the cows don't produce. This gives them a good amount of open pop to spam their powerful, 1-pop units like crazy.
British role (D/Tim): The Brits are the ones in charge of making and gathering the cows once they've fattened using the cards they need. Once they cows are captured by the Aztec, they can build more. They will need ranching, team fattening, AND gather speed, but they need NO farm and plantation upgrades at all... and probably only 30 or so vills gathering the cows (since we will have about 100 at a time). Moreover, they can be the ones in charge of getting the teams supply of wood so that the other two players don't have to worry about it. They might also be in charge of base construction and making sure everything is organized and efficient. When the NR ends, they mass longbows up the asshole now that they are more OP. No need for muskets, rockets, dragoons, or hussars at all! The other players are better at that kinda stuff anyway.
French role (Josh): The French, therefore, become the sole gold gathering force of the team since they are by far the most efficient at it. With 10 plantations and 8 vills on each one, ALL gold gathering cards, and unique church thing, economic theory, AND fur trade (which I suspect will get them close to 200,000 gold at 35 minutes). But before that, they should focus on getting to the 5th age FAST with EVERYONE on plantations and getting spies for the team early. They are to gold what the Aztecs and British are to food. The have no need for farms or farm upgrades. When the NR ends, the French have to power to mass ponies and skirms up the ass since the Brit and Aztec will supply them with more food than they can use.
4th Player (Tim/Patrick): I'm strongly debating who the 4th player would be in the case of a 4v4. I'm leaning toward the Portuguese with their great late game units and strong artillery, but I also see some value for the Russians to fort hope and provide massive siege. Dutch and Germans are also possible. In any case, this player will have almost no vills, and must provide the back bone of the army and pushing the forward base since they will be tributed resources up the ass to spam out more units than the other team can handle. They should be a good NR team player that when given a lot of open pop, can CRUSH people quickly and effectively and don't need to worry about economy.
What do you think? Can you guys provide some criticism or suggestions? I'm trying to come up with a potential deck or each player but I don't know the different civs that well. Let's make this shit kick some ass!
