Some users on Age Community came up with their own version of the 1.09 Patch That I think sound pretty amazing. Apparently you can download it and only use it with other people who have the patch as well.
"This is a fan patch which II have been working on for use with friends on lan and online but I thought I would share it here as well.
Patch Notes:
-Fishing Boats Cost 80 wood and schooners reduces cost by 50% -Dutch now do not need to send the 2 age 1 cards in order to unlock 2 new banks -Spanish wardogs now cost 90 food -Spanish shipments back to 1.07 rate -Ruyters have 3x vs artillery -Longbow now has 0.7 multiplier vs cav -Ruyters hp increased by 10% -Cav archers 2.25 bonus vs cavalry is now a 2.5x bonus -Cav archer attack increased by 1 -Dopple train time reduced by 5 seconds -Grenadier train time reduced by 5 seconds -Cossacks and Uhlans have both received the 10% boost which was given to hussars -Skirms now 4.2 speed -Strelets now have 4.25 speed -Halberds now have 4.5 speed"
BEN'S SUGGESTIONS *Halbs really don't need a speed boost so much as an HP boost so they don't die so easily. *The dutch bank cards should be combined into one card that allows them to build two banks in age 1... + one card for dutch. *Dopple train time is fine the way it was *Pioneers +75% HP for villes *Banks -500 HP *All warship train time -10%
What do you guys think? Suggestions?

This is not a "real" patch... just one that some guy created for people to use on their own. Hopefully ESO learns a little something form it.

Yea it would be kinda dumb if it were. People are complaning about the spanish, but they are 4th in the win %.
Most other things i didnt mind though.
Except 10% hp for ruyters, dutch players over use them as it is. They added the 1.5 times attack against ranged calvary for nothing.
Grenadiers are fine.
How much is it now ben? Pioneers that is. Its an advantage towards ben (russians), they pioneers wont hurt him since -10% damage wont matter to the russian orps, but it will matter to the other civs.

PCups, I can definitely go on Saturday. I can't even tell you how pumped I am... I've never seen the Patriots in person before. Fuck yeah! Is it just the two of us or do your parents have tickets too? Yeah, I think pioneers gives 65% but I dunno. It just seems like a useless card that nobody uses. It wouldn't effect my orps... maybe against the French who are already pretty damn hard to kill. I don't see the Spanish as being very OP. They, like the Russians, have very weak units late game and not too much of an economy other than fast shipments. Maybe the Dutch could have a card to help Ruyters and/or help their attack bonus (like the spanish) But all of this might not matter too much with the War Cheifs. I really can't wait to see how the Native Civs change things.

Yea ben im wicked fucking pumped too, ive never seen a pats game i nperson either!. And my dad is going.
I also dont think light infrantry should be faster, and melee infrantry slower, it really would give ALL power in the game to LI.
The war chiefs x pack will change EVERYTHING!

Yeah, the only thing about LI is that they are so weak and have so little HP and armor that it would make sense if they had more speed than HI. Maybe all LI should have .7 vs Heavy Cavalry? Maybe grenadiers should have 1.5 vs LI too. I haven't thought enough about it to make a real judgment though

Grenadiers are fine at killing 2nd age light infantry, but grenadiers are quite UP lategame. Maybe as part of the advanced arsenal shipment they should have a research that gives them x1.5 versus all infantry (at range).

None of the advanced arsenal stuff helps grenadiers or calv. archers (my two RG units). I don't have any cards to help my grenadiers either. Plus, I kust can't give up the Russians quite yet. I think I just need some more practice and ideas to beat longbows and french ponies. -Ben (on the super computer I guess Tim didnt sign out)

You need good allies ben ;D and you have plenty of those.
But your situation isnt unlike others, just a little more severe.
Spanish dont have any kind of good economy, even with faster shipments so they gotta rely on other things.
Same with ports and 3rd age siege.
Same with dutch and late game gold.
Same with germans and really slow shipments early on.
Same with brits with OP longbows...
Same with russian and heavy calvary, i think if you used halbs as a meat shield, and have strelets, muskets and horse archers all in the same army, you would have a better chance against heavy calvary.
Oh and ben, i dont play the russians so i wouldnt know, but with the spanish, i never max out my economy like you. Theres no need for 99 peasants! So i just find the point where i can build units and still gather resources fast enough. Its a thing i do with 1v1, just find the natural medium. I dont know if russians need the 99 peasants or what. i Just know if you had 20 muskets or 10 more orps running around it would make a difference against those stupid cuirs.

The advantage of maxing out my pop is that it allows my instant infantry and cavalry to dominate the late game. The Russians have crappy units, so the only way they can win is with sheer numbers, both in pesants and units. Non-stop orp raids can be a real problem for most civs to deal with, and with 99 vills, I can mass any unit I want and still keep up really well economically. That way, if I get raided... its not the end of the world. Plus, like the spanish, I only have 1 factory so I need a higher vill count, but thats easy to do in the 3rd age when I can build 6 at a time. :-)
