Breakthrough???
How's this for a crazy-ass idea? Pat Braasch, I, and whoever else wants to (Tim and Mike?), attend Pat's graduation on the 17th. We then leave on the 18th (or 17th if we want) directly from Troy and drive out to Detroit in two days, probably stopping overnight again. We then meet everyone at the Detroit train station along with D. This then gives us two cars to get from Detroit to TC. On the way back, Pat Braasch and I each take our separate cars and drive whoever we want to Detroit to take the train back, and drive the rest of the way home, while everyone who wants to train home can do so. This all rests on the assumption that Pat is OK with driving out right after his graduation (obviously we'll compensate him for it and such), but if he's unable to, that's completely OK. It also rests on the assumption that D would be able to drive to Detroit to pick up the rest of the people who are coming by train since we can't fit them all in Pat's car.
Advantages:
- Those who wish to drive out for cheap may do so while getting to go to the graduation.
- Those who do not wish to drive out may also do. They also have a cheap, reliable way of getting from Detroit to TC, and BACK to Detroit on the way home. A bus could easily add $50 a head each way!
- Either way, it's much cheaper than flying.
- D would only need to make one trip to Detroit total.
- Ben and Tim could retrieve the car from MI and use it to help get people back.
- ***Everyone can attend regardless of their school's ending schedule.***
Disadvantages:
- Obviously, this put a bit of a burden on Pat, D, and Me/Tim who would be doing more driving.
- Our schedules would be dependent on each other, but that's going to happen anyway.
- We wouldn't all get to travel together... :/
