This is a very important update. I have a feeling that in order to play ages, UT, or anything at college, we are going to Hamachi, a program that sets up a network on your computer that basically can connect anyone to a safe and secure network anywhere that there is an internet connection. It is SO easy to use, you won't believe it... and its free! You can download it, install it, AND take the tutorial in 5 minutes. secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/vpn.asp?lang=enFrom now on, rather than playing on ESO which is a huge pain in the ass as we found out last year, we can play on a network, just like we do at the apartment. If you set up a network, here's what you do once you have it installed and you choose a "nickname" (which should be your first name): Open Hamachi Click "create new network" Call the "network name" DeltaTeamIII (all one word) Call the "network password" 93WestStreet (all one word) Now, when everyone else tries to "join an existing network" we will always know what to look for and what the password is. It's SO easy I can't tolerate it. When we all have it installed, we should give it a test run. Here is a program that fixes the problem we had when running Hamachi with Ages. It allows you to select an IP address when starting the game as well as skipping the intro video: essential while playing at school. www.crea-doo.at/weblog/2006/02/13/age-of-empires-iii-loader/

Yup! We played last Friday and it worked fucking awesome (after our little fix). Nick, if you DL and install Hamachi and the Hamachi fix, then you can play with us too! Are you coming home for Columbus Day?

HOW TO GET MAX HOME CITIES ON YOUR COMPUTER:
1) Load Age of Empires III TAD and go to Multiplayer>LAN>Manage Home Cities>Create Home City>(Select a city)>Create for EACH of the 14 playable nations. They will all appear as low level cities.
2) On the desktop, go to My Documents>My Games>Age of Empires III>Savegame. This will bring you to where the home cities are stored on the hard drive.
3) Right click on sp_(City name)_homecity and open with notepad.
4) About 13 lines down from the top, you will see <level>(Home city level)</level> where the HC level is listed in the middle. Change this number to 222 to give you a 222 level home city.
5) Two lines down from that, you will see <skillpoints>(Number of cards availible)</skillpoints> Change this to 222 as well.
6) *** Go up to file and down to save in notepad to save the changes!***
7) Repeat steps 3-6 with all the other home cities so that every home city is level 222 with 222 cards availible (skill points).
8) Load TAD again and select the home city you want and pick all the cards for that home city under Choose New Cards. HINT: If you hold enter while you click the cards, you don't need to click OK every time you select a new card.
9) Build your decks again... etc, etc.
10) Repeat steps 8 and 9 with all the other home cities you want.

Sorry if any of this is redundant, I'm not entirely sure where you are, so try this. Download hamachi here and install it. secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/vpn.asp?lang=enThe "network name" DeltaTeamIII (all one word) The "network password" 93WestStreet (all one word) Now, download the AoE3 loader here: www.crea-doo.at/weblog/2006/02/13/age-of-empires-iii-loader/You may need to UnZip or or Install it or something like that but that part is easy. 1) You must have Hamachi loaded BEFORE you use it. 2) Double click on the aoe3loader icon that you unzipped. 3) Select the 5.xxx.xx.xxx for your IP and click OK 4) Make sure "No Intro Video" and "Direct IP Connectivity" are checked on the next screen and the other boxes are not. 5) Click Start Game... Age of Empires III TAD. 6) When you load the game, you will need to go to Multiplayer>LAN>and type in the HAMACHI IP address of the person hosting the game (often Tim). You can find this address next to their name on the Hamachi screen on the desktop when it's loaded. 7) If you get it, You're golden.

To down load the loader, click on the first green block where it says " version 1.6.3 here!!!" Click on "here". It wasn't obvious to me right away. After it downloaded, I just moved it to my desktop.
