There seems to be new hope for India, and it seems to be their late game. In the first treaty game played by us I had the most resources! Even against two Japs, I still claimed the title.
I learned that they are good at holding down the fort. With battlefield construction and fast building elephants, yes you heard right. Elephants build faster than any unit the Indians have, which makes them a little more tasty.
And even though Ben's explorer got stuck in one, elephants can get quite useful. They fall pretty fast to samurai, but what doesn't? Against ranged melee infantry, they dominate. Against artillery and light infantry, there is no contest. So while the Indians maybe missing an arm or two, they can still run the distance!
And does anyone notice the new ad? "Online Matrimoney for Indians Abroad!" WOO, thank God!

Nice Title.
I thought today's game proved some very interesting things. First, the Chinese suck asshole at treaty. You guys might have thought that I played a shitty game, but I really didn't. My armies train too fucking slow and I really can't deal with it any more. I had the most resources at the end of the game by a shit load because I just couldn't produce any fucking units at all. My fastest training unit batch trains in 10 seconds. Unacceptable. I wish you guys had gotten to see what the Chinese can really do late game because my economy was unreal. How'd you like those flamethrowers Jake? Second, the Indians impressed me a lot. I think they fit Patrick's playing style a lot and I'm interested to see what can become of them once we figure out which of your cards are the most useful. Elephants are sick... no way around it. Third, I was surprised at how fast the Japanese economy crumbled. The samurai/horse combo is a very powerful match-up that has a lot of siege and is hard to stop, but both of you ended the game with about 15K resources after only an hour, and it seemed like we started pushing you out of our town. Is 75 vills just too few? Anyway, let me know what you think!

Yea, I thought you were having a hard time vs Tim, and I guess you were. Flamethrowers are fucking awesome though.
I was telling jake this, but one of the reasons i like the indians is because they can change their type army instantly. I was using cheap sepoys and gurkas to defend against jake, while using eles and camels to help on ben's side!.

So I was doing some test on the Zamburak today. The light calvary camel that the Indians own. I wanted to know if the the 1 pop beast could stand up to a ruyter and its stats.
Lets start with the basics. A zamburak cost 60 food 60 gold. The ruyter cost 35 food and 75 gold. Cost wise, the zamburak cost 10 more resources, this is almost irrelevant due to these two civs powerful ecos and small difference.
So lets go to base stats. well i wont post them here ill just tell you the results. im too lazy.
When thrown against each other the zamburak wins. When pitted against a skirmisher at range, the zamburak last longer than ruyter.in ranged and in melee. The zamburaks stats are all better for the cost of 10 extra HP. If ruyters were the best ranged cav per pop, with 10% ranged resist, where does that leave zamburaks with 30% ranged resist?
Oh, and i didnt realize that ranged calvary wont go on melee unless you tell them too, even if something is attacking right next to them!

Test them against eagle runner knights and see how they stand up to em? ;D True they are more expensive, but they are still the most effective anti cavalry unit per pop and cost... and they get even better when they are fully upgraded and get the range bonus and the massive boost to their stats. Apparently there are a bunch of people still ranting and raving that they are OP but I really don't buy it. Love 'em!

Did i mention anything about aztecs or eagle runner knights? NO , damn op ERKS, actually, i havent heard too many people complaining about them. They arent as effective at doing everything else anymore.

Most people assume they are OP, but their astronomical cost and slow build time kind of compensates for it all. The aztecs are designed as an anti cav civ so it only makes sense to have one of he strongest ranged cav units. Now if only they had a cannon to go along with it... :/

Back to Indians and not your puny ERK's! I no longer have to worry about being the last one aged up, well by a lot. I don't build a house in the second age and I cue up all the peasants (5) once, i have them all cued up, I just move all villes to food, and any new ones to food. When the wonder starts building, I put 3 peasants on it and move 3 or 4 to wood. First shipment is trickle card (2.25 villes aprox.) I build a house as soon as I can and just start cranking out villes, any new ones to go wood. Once the wonder is done, those 3 peasants go to food. Yay!

Booo! Apparently ES gave the Indians a -8% shipment modifier . That means their shipments come almost as slow as the Germans

Why? Do they think that they Indians are OP? I thought they were the most balanced Asians civ but I guess not. Is this in the next patch or is the next patch already out?

No, its already in effect. It got launched with the game. Apparently have 1 villager with every shipment is too good of a bonus with out a penalty. Kinda like uhlans. But this negates the fact because the indians already have the shittiest starting economy in the game.
Indians are not balanced in my opinion.

Indians seem to be pretty good in treaty once you get to know them well enough. I figure the fur trade card is almost worthless to the indians. In the 3v3 game we had at the ages party ben destroy all my wonders in the beginning of the game, including my big penis tower and the one that increases resources. So i was left with a couple of town centers and a bunch of rice paddies. Cool. But at the end of the game, after having the most resources tributed (for some reason tributed isnt a word) i had 89 thousand gold and and 50 thousand food. Can you imagine what it would be like if i had my ohter wonder. I was also on the offensive most of the time, being pushed back sometimes, but for hte most part, jake and i pushed towards tim. I didn't have my mansabar sepoy, which have the made the battle THAT much better for our team. I could have spent less guys in the north holding off tim while i pushed with nick and ended the game much sooner. I also lost hte tower of victory which increases my units HP and attack for 15 seconds by 40%. Ownage Indians seem to be a good treay civ to me. Their awesome foward basing ability is also another ability.

I like the Indians as well. They have a very diverse range of units and your eco seems to be pretty tough despite an early raid or two They are a lot like the Chinese kinda. I kicked the shit out of an Indian player with the Russians because he just couldn't produce enough units to stop me fast enough. But against slower civs, they seem to do very well. With some unit build speed, they could be a real force! You up for some games on Sunday or Monday?
